SERVICE PROJECTS

YMCA St.Martin's Model Farm & YMCA Appasamy Rural Trust

The YMCA Model farm serves as a farmers centre for sharing and training for small and marginal farmers in sustainable agriculture, eco-farming, rainwater harvesting, bio fertilizers and pesticides etc, in Kayathar and Ottapidaram blocks of Tamilnadu.

Goat farming and poultry farming with country hens are going on in the site and country chicken and country goats are available for sale to the community. As of now, 33 goats and 58 hens are available at the farm.

Under YMCA Appasamy Rural Trust Project, agricultural activities are carried out in the village of Rajapudukudy. During the year, corn was cultivated in 10 acres of land which gave a good yield and cultivation of paddy was undertaken in the following months. This is indeed a livelihood and employment option for the daily laborers of the village especially women.
